Job summary

A local sports and leisure organization in Burntisland is seeking a part-time Leisure Centre Supervisor to supervise users and ensure safety in facility use. The role requires a Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and the ability to maintain cleanliness and general safety. Ideal candidates should have good communication skills and be conscientious. Weekly hours are 22.5, with closing date on 29th September 2025.

Overview

CONTRACT TYPE: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week
CLOSING DATE: Monday 29th September
INTERVIEW DATE: Wednesday 8th October 2025

To supervise Leisure Centre users including adults, youths, children and groups, to ensure safe use of facilities and equipment and to ensure cleanliness of the building.

Requirements
  • Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
  • Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme (required before confirming appointment).
Responsibilities
  • To undertake a range of duties in wet, dry and other areas including cleanliness of all designated internal and external areas, control of facilities, and issuing/safeguarding clothing and personal belongings in the changing facility.
  • Assemble and dismantle facilities equipment, including sports and exhibition displays.
  • Oversee the general safety and behaviour of the public and users and direct their activities to prevent injury, misuse or damage to facilities.
  • Adhere to current operating procedures for the facility, including Normal Operation Procedures and Emergency Action Plan, the company Safety policy and Health and Safety principles contained therein.
  • Attend regular Health & Safety training to maintain the required competency for this post.
  • Provide trained assistance to Leisure Centre users in difficulty, including use of appropriate appliances (poolside and lifesaving skills).
  • Patrol the building to carry out routine maintenance and building security.
  • Supervise children’s activities, including birthday parties and Activity Camps.
  • Carry out pool tests and assist in plant room operations as appropriate.
  • Attend regular training to maintain the required competency and fitness standards.
  • Where required, undertake basic administration functions including taking bookings, processing cash through the computerised booking system, receiving customers, telephone calls and goods.
  • Undertake other duties as required by centre management.
