Our inclusive and diverse Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient‑centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400 beds across medical, surgical and specialist areas as well as a number of outpatient clinics. We are innovative and forward‑thinking and have invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is noted to be very friendly, and is constantly looking to develop and expand. This is an exciting time at Barnsley Hospital with the recent implementation of electronic prescribing bringing excellent opportunities for further innovation and service development.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensuring that safe and efficient systems of work are maintained while
  • Completing a comprehensive topping‑up service
  • Supporting the Senior ATO in stock management
  • Maintaining stock levels on wards and department
  • The receipt of medication deliveries
  • Disposing of waste in the required stream
  • Performing stock and expiry checks
  • Over‑labelling of medications
  • Updating stock levels held on wards and departments

If you are looking for an exciting new challenge, we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward‑thinking individual to take on the role of Pharmacy Assistant. You will be involved in the topping up services for wards and departments using various Pharmacy IT systems including robotics and Omnicells, receiving deliveries, performing stock checks, and over‑labelling medication for discharge prescriptions. You will be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills working alone and within a team.

This post is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, and your contracted hours will be worked over 5 days, including participation in the weekend, late night, and bank holiday rotas as required. We would encourage an informal visit.
