IPVF – Photovoltaic Institute of Île-de-France

The Île-de-France Photovoltaic Institute, an institute for energy transition created in 2013, is a scientific and technical center dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies. On its site located in Paris-Saclay, it brings together its own staff, employees of its partners and those of external companies. The IPVF aims to ambition to become one of the main global centers for research, innovation and training in the field of energy transition.

The IPVF aims to primary objective of improving the performance and competitiveness of photovoltaic cells and developing disruptive technologies relying on four levers:

  • An ambitious research program;
  • The reception, on its Paris-Saclay site, of more than 200 researchers and their laboratories;
  • A state-of-the-art technological platform (8,000 m²) open to players in the photovoltaic sector, and bringing together more than 100 cutting-edge pieces of equipment located in clean rooms;
  • A training program mainly based on a master's degree, supervision of doctoral students, and continuing education.
INTERNSHIP CONTEXT

As part of the STaFF program, in collaboration with Voltec Solar, a French manufacturer of silicon photovoltaic modules, this internship contributes to the deployment of a pilot line for the manufacture of 4T perovskite/silicon tandem modules, aiming for the industrial scaling up of a high-efficiency technology.

The pilot line brings together several successive processes (deposition, treatment, etching, encapsulation, advanced characterizations), requiring the coordination of numerous physical and informational flows, as well as rigorous management of inputs (substrates, consumables, chemical precursors) and associated quality control (traceability, storage conditions, purity of materials).

The objective of the internship is to contribute to the design and implementation of logistics tools for this line: from the layout of workstations to the implementation of technical solutions ensuring the reliability, fluidity and performance of the entire system.

The intern will be involved in the analysis, modeling and improvement of production flows, as well as in the design and manufacture of technical solutions to ensure optimal operation of the pilot line.

MAIN MISSIONS
  • To design, manufacture technical solutions for material handling or tooling (substrate supports, trolleys, jigs, handling devices, positioning aids) through our network of fablabs and partners.
  • Contribute to the layout and ergonomics of operating stations, integrating the constraints of quality, pace and safety.
  • Carry out validation tests (repeatability, ergonomics, process compatibility) and analyze the performance obtained.
  • Participate in defining and formalizing production and transfer protocols between workstations.
  • To propose and formalize continuous improvement actions to improve the reliability of logistics operations and address identified critical points.
REQUIRED PROFILE

Training : Engineering student or Master 2 in general or specialized training in industrial engineering, mechanics, production or processes, with a strong interest in prototyping in a logistics context.

Skills:

  • Prototyping, modeling and design of technical solutions
  • Use of CAD/CAM tools for the design of production systems.
  • Field observation
  • Sensitivity to quality, safety and ergonomics in an industrial environment.
  • Teamwork, rigor, autonomy and analytical skills.
  • A taste for innovation, autonomy, and a proactive approach
