Role

The Social Care Worker will report to the Social Care Leader/Team Leader and will fulfil a key worker role for individuals and aim to provide a safe, secure environment where individuals will participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and enjoy a lifestyle that fulfil their potential and expectations with opportunity for new experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, secure environment and support individuals to participate in community and leisure activities.
  • Support individuals to make choices and pursue a lifestyle that fulfils their potential and expectations with opportunities for new experiences.
Qualifications
  • Open Training College (HETAC) accredited National Degree in Applied Social Studies (Disability) or equivalent.
  • Successful candidates must be registered with or eligible to register with CORU by November 2025.
  • A full, clean manual Driving Licence (manual transmission) and use of own car is essential for transport duties.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English and IT skills are required.
Experience
  • Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability, challenging behaviour, autism, complex medical and mental health needs and physical disabilities is essential. Laimh and FEDS training is an advantage.

Working Hours

78 hours per fortnight based on a 14-day duty roster, including morning/evening shifts, sleep-ins, weekends and public holidays. Occasional split shifts and night duties may be required. The Brothers of Charity model requires flexibility to provide quality service delivery for each individual.

22 days per annum. Service-related leave granted after 5 and 10 years of service respectively.

Remuneration

Department of Health Social Care Worker pay scale as per the consolidated salary scale dated 1st August 2025 - €40,351 x 10 increments - €55,599 (max) per annum. LSI €56,650 per annum payable after 3 years at the maximum of the scale.

All posts are permanent, full-time and pensionable.

A nine-month probationary period applies from the date of appointment. The employment may be terminated during probation if unsuitable. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
