The Centre de Calcul Intensif d’Aix-Marseille (CCIAM), the high-performance computing centre of Aix-Marseille Université (AMU), operates the university’s mesocentre and is a partner in the MesoNet project (Investissements d’Avenir EquipEx+ 2021–2027).
MesoNet aims to federate French mesocentres into a national-scale research infrastructure and to provide a high level of service to the scientific community. Within this project, AMU is in charge of developing and operating one of the eight national machines, a GPU-based HPC system designed for intensive computation and AI workloads.
The recruited engineer will join the CCIAM technical team and will be responsible for supporting, developing and operating this GPU-oriented platform.
They will provide scientific and technical support to users (researchers, lecturers, students) for applications in both HPC and artificial intelligence. They will also contribute to the deployment, maintenance, documentation and optimization of the machine and its associated services.
The position is ideally suited for a candidate interested in bridging technical engineering and scientific computing, with a genuine motivation for GPU and HPC technologies.
Experience in a research or academic environment would be a strong asset.
Working environment
The position is based at the Centre de Calcul Intensif d’Aix-Marseille (CCIAM), located on the Saint-Jérôme campus in Marseille, easily accessible by public transport and with on-site catering facilities.
Remote work (up to two days per week) may be possible after six months.
The engineer will interact closely with national HPC support teams and the GENCI technology watch group.
AMU offers a supportive working environment, flexible daily hours, and up to 41 days of leave per year (49 from the second year).
