Postdoctoral position in Sociology (Qualitative Methods) within the ERC-funded project WE-COOP on Labour, Gender, and Democracy: “Gender and Cooperative Labour” (2 years, with possible 1‑year extension).
Postdoctoral Position in Sociology “Gender and Cooperative Labour”
The WE-COOP project shifts the traditional androcentric perspective on workplace democracy by investigating the labour experiences of women in worker cooperatives. It explores how these settings foster women’s emancipation and gender equality, using a multi‑layered survey and rare all‑women cooperative experiments. The project combines quantitative and qualitative methods with innovative participatory research across four incremental steps.
The postdoctoral researcher will join Phase 2 of the WE-COOP project, which focuses on a qualitative and participatory study of women workers in production cooperatives (SCOPs) in France. Using radical feminist epistemologies, the study aims to collect a series of oral interviews that serve as archives of gendered experiences of workplace democracy.
Beyond project‑specific tasks, the researcher may dedicate part of their time to developing and promoting their own research aligned with WE‑COOP themes.
Education: PhD in Sociology, Political Science, Philosophy, or a closely related Humanities or Social Sciences discipline.
The researcher will be part of the SAGE laboratory at the University of Strasbourg, with office space at the MISHA on the Esplanade campus. Remote work is possible depending on personal circumstances. The position offers support for professional development, academic skill enhancement, research dissemination funding, and participation in international scientific events.
