This role requires 10+ years in technical R&D, focusing on innovation and nutritional consistency. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a degree in a relevant scientific field and proficiency in English.

Global Formula Portfolio Coordinator (M/F/X)

Royal Canin’s centralized formulation model enables the delivery of unique nutritional profiles for pets worldwide, combining global product portfolios with locally available raw materials. As a Global Formula Portfolio Coordinator, you will be accountable for the formula portfolio of one standard size factory (~100 formulas) and drive the deployment of global formulas for innovation in every market, ensuring nutritional consistency and continuous improvement. You will act as the link between R&D and Value Chain Operation (Supply & Commercial), collaborating daily with R&D associates and factory teams to ensure the highest standards in science, process, and nutrition.

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Conduct feasibility assessments for new recipes and support deployment to Global Design teams.
  • Define and deploy optimum formulas based on local raw materials, factory and regulatory constraints, and product specifications.
  • Correct pet product performance out-of-target results and deliver reference formulas for legal text creation.
  • Support new raw material and supplier development processes, including material risk assessment.
  • Identify and build the ideal raw material portfolio for new recipes and ensure usage aligns with requirements.
  • Deliver forecasts on cost and volumes to commercial teams and support roadmap development.
  • Oversee raw material sampling and plan definition.
  • Show case the impact of raw material non-conformance on finished products.
  • Collaborate with Raw Material Scientists and QA to guarantee nutritional matrix and support investigations.
  • Perform risk assessments for raw material shortages or deviations and propose reformulations to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure formula consistency and nutritional philosophy within the plant.
  • Optimize the portfolio for cost and greenhouse gas equivalent (GHG), ensuring compliance with nutritional constraints and regulatory requirements.
  • Co-construct and execute roadmaps with commercial partners to reduce costs and emissions and prioritize opportunities for the business.
  • Train factory teams on scientific principles and innovations.
  • Collaborate with other formulators and Raw Material Scientists globally.
  • Supervise corrective actions on raw materials and verify formulas for all factories.
  • Lead global formulation projects and contribute to internal knowledge management by sharing insights and integrating new practices.
What are we looking for?
  • Graduated as scientist in food/feed/nutrition/chemistry or veterinarian specializing in nutrition.
  • 10 +years in a technical R&D position (Formulator, Product Design, Nutritionist).
  • Ability to work in global structures; high learning agility (people, results, mental).
  • Agility to work and influence interfaces (commercial, supply, manufacturing, R&D, Marketing).
  • High interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in feed or pet food company is a strong advantage.
  • Fluent English must have.
