Equipment Technology Engineer (F/M)

CONTEXT

The mission of our Business Division (BD), Technology and Technical Support (T&TS), is to propose to our clients sustainable, low‑carbon solutions, which are also efficient in terms of technologies / process, catalysts / adsorbents and services for the whole domains Axens is involved in (Biomass & Oil Hydroprocessing & conversion, Petrochemicals production & purification, Gas and Water Treatment, CO2 capture). T&TS Business Division is responsible for the performance achieved in Axens’ clients units and for maintaining the competitiveness of our offer in a very competitive and challenging market. Technologist position is at the crossroads of Axens core jobs, mixing technical support to sales, partnership of the performance of our Clients and piloting R&D actions.

The Responsible VGO Hydroprocessing Product Line is in charge of technologies and products related to the applications Clean Fuels, Petrochemical Feedstocks and Specialty Products. Technology Engineers missions are to:

  • Prepare, clarify and defend the technical proposals as a response to a tender, to design grass‑roots units, to modify existing assets or to replace products, by providing innovative and efficient solutions.
  • Support our customers by providing technical assistance for units in operation.
  • Promote Axens’ technologies and services through marketing actions.
  • Adapt and develop Axens’ offer in the domain of expertise of the technologists, domain in which they are the guardians of the knowledge and of the know‑how.

As part of the development of Axens' Equipment offering and to support Axens' licensing and product offerings, we are looking for an Equipment Technology Engineer, whose missions will be identical to those of the group's other technology engineers, with a particular focus on the supply of technology‑related equipment / internals.

The technologist, initially assigned to the VGO Hydroprocessing Product Line group, may be called upon to work for other Product Lines over time.

He/she will work on these various assignments in close collaboration with the Business Sales Departments (Regional / Equipment Sales Manager) and at the interface with other Axens entities (Projects Department, Engineering Department, Process Department within BD Project Operations, New Development & Transformation BD, etc.). He/she will report to the Product Line Manager. Areas of expertise include mechanical engineering and fluid mechanics.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

The Equipment Technology Engineer will be in charge of:

  • Analyzing the customer’s needs and the competitive context in order to deliver the best technical solution and developing technical proposals working with interfaces such as Project Operations BD (Projects Department, Engineering Department, sales).
  • Promoting equipment & internals to customers.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the performance of our solutions in operation.
  • Capitalize on feedback and cross‑check using models, CFD, or cold mock‑up (IFPen or other entity).
  • Participating in the inspection phase, ensuring that maintenance, inspection and cleaning procedures are available and coherent with the Process requirements.
  • Being the referent of the AxelerE task force to
    1. identify industrialization needs
    2. Participate and promote innovation in collaboration with NDT and IFPEn or other entity
    3. Participate in studies of solutions proposed by the Task Force
    4. Participate in the preparation of support pitches on new solutions
KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS

Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Chemical Engineer or General Engineer with good knowledge in mechanical and/or process, with a first experience (3 to 5 years minimum).

Knowledge in Hydroprocessing is a plus.

Skills in design and equipment sizing using simulation software (ProII, Hysis,…) is a plus.

Being fluent in English is a must for this position.

SKILLS

You enjoy working in a team, you have a strong sense of listening to exchange the right information with Axens' customers and with the different Axens entities. You have a very strong analytical mind and the ability to question yourself and look for solutions. You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade, particularly in sales support activities.

You are synthetic, rigorous and concrete. You have a taste for formatting and presenting arguments. You have good communication skills, both written and oral. These qualities are required to develop technical solutions and defend them in front of customers, as well as for follow‑up and technical assistance missions.

Availability for short trips is required.
