We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced, remote Corporate Accounting Support specialist to provide support for our client’s accounting team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of their financial operations.

The Accounting Support role will be responsible for overseeing much of the aspects of the accounting department, managing the month-end close process, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of accounting principles and a proactive approach to process improvement. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional who can both be a leader and perform core accounting functions.

This is a full-time, contractual, freelancer position for a trial period of 3 months while working at home. After the evaluation period, the candidate will be reviewed and may be subject to further contract renewal with benefits.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Financial Management: Manage, support and perform the full-cycle accounting process, including the accurate and timely month-end and year-end close.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile all balance sheets and bank accounts monthly, ensuring the proper recording of all transactions
  • Financial Reporting: Draft monthly and annual financial statements, as well as other compliance reports.
  • Daily Operations: Lead and execute day-to-day accounting functions, including weekly Accounts Payable check runs and bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Cash Management: Assist the CFO with daily banking requirements and prepare weekly cash forecasts.
  • Cost Accounting: Track both direct and indirect costs, with a focus on costs related to our vending machine units.
  • Data Analytics: Support the CFO in developing and implementing key financial reports and dashboards, such as Daily Sales Reports and Core Metrics Dashboards.
  • Audit & Compliance: Assist the CFO with the annual financial audit, preparing work papers and audit schedules as needed. Contribute to the assessment and implementation of internal controls and best practices.
  • System & Process Improvement: Monitor and analyze accounting workflows to identify and implement more efficient procedures and systems, including supporting the selection and implementation of new financial software.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist the CFO with budget and forecast activities, including monthly budget-vs-actual analysis.
  • Special Projects: Support the CFO with various ad-hoc accounting analyses and special projects.
  • Tools, access and licenses will be provided by the client.
  • Any other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities related to the above.
Requirements
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years of proven, progressive experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Management experience preferred.
  • Experience in the food or restaurant industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience working for a US company is a big plus.
  • Experience as a freelance accountant and working in graveyard shifts is a plus
  • TECHINCAL AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with system implementations and process automation.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Strong Leadership skills. Is a “People Person”.
  • Can work with minimal supervision. Proactive and team player
  • REQUIREMENTS FOR REMOTE WORK
  • Eligible to work as a remote freelancer legally or as a contractor based in the Philippines
  • Has own computer or laptop capable of handling the demands of big data and financial, number crunching.
  • Has a fast and reliable internet connection at home (at least 100-200 MBPS)
  • Has a quiet and distraction free work environment at home.
  • Willing to work in graveyard shifts or changing shift schedules.
  • Must be able to maintain consistent availability during US PST TIMER
HOURS OF WORK
  • Work from home. Full-time freelancer, contractual position
  • 1 2:00PM to 9:00PM Pacific Time USA Mondays to Friday
  • 8 hours guaranteed shift per work day
  • With 1 hour daily “lunch break” (unpaid)
  • US Holidays off and unpaid
  • Philippine Holidays are normal working days during the evaluation contract
  • Any overtime needs to be pre-approved by the client
  • COMPENSATION:$12 to $13 USD Per hour
  • CONTRACT:This is a 3-month long freelancing trial contract (full-time) that can be done remotely at home with a computer and a fast and reliable internet connection. There are no benefits for Freelancers during the evaluation period.
  • POSSIBLE RENEWAL:However, if the Client decides to renew the contract there may be certain benefits such as paid sick leaves, paid vacation leaves, HMO health insurance and 13th month pay. These are not guaranteed and everything will depend on performance and client discretion.
  • REPORTING TO:Although you will be reporting directly to the designated manager from our client, you will also be reporting to and will be supervised by Big Ideas Social Media Inc, who is the consultant and service provider (Agency) of the US business. Big Ideas will be the ones to provide your compensation and other HR and administrative needs locally.
  • LEGAL STATUS:You will be classified as “Self-Employed” when it concerns legality and taxation. You will not be considered an employee of our Client or Big Ideas Philippines but instead, you will be a self-employed freelance professional and will be liable for declaring your own income with the BIR and taxes.
