Job Description

This position is opened in the "Avionics and Systems Architecture" Department within the Design Office Directorate. You will work in a transnational department, composed mainly of Avionics Architects spread over different civil and military helicopter projects, in close cooperation with other Architects and be interfaced with avionics, vehicle, projects, safety, certification and customers support stakeholders.

Your challenges

The main missions of the Avionics and Systems Architecture department are, among others, to:

  • Anticipate future needs and possible avionics solutions, from concept analysis up to feasibility during Research and Pre‑Dev stages
  • Ensure retrofit & upgrades of our fleet in service
  • Keep our avionics up‑to‑date (obsolescence solving, avionics improvements, introduction of new capabilities/features), in the frame of future developments
  • Define, develop and certify the most effective avionics solutions
  • Participate to avionics strategy at system level
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps
  • Contribute to System Engineering set‑up for Avionics (process, methods & tools)
  • Manage transverse functions
Depending on the project stage, you will have to:
  • Collect stakeholders needs (from Projects/Programs, Marketing, Support, end‑users and customers)
  • Define operational concepts and use‑cases for the overall avionics
  • Perform functional analysis and define functional architecture (including functional flows)
  • Specify all requirements (functional and non‑functional ones) allocated to avionics system
  • Validate and cascade the overall set of avionics requirements to avionics functions
  • Define all avionics external interfaces
  • Propose the "most effective" avionics design, resulting from trade‑off, based on constraints and all others influencing criteria (safety/availability, compliance to customer needs, cost/weight/volume, re‑use, family concept, industrial strategy /partnerships, ...)
  • Lead Filter Boards at avionics level for problem reports
  • Ensure the overall verification activities at avionics level
  • Prepare the technical substantiation materials for Qualification/Certification at avionic level - lead the flight clearance activity -
  • Perform interface with other helicopter systems (vehicle, ...) and ground segment / open world
On a daily basis, you will also play a key role in System Engineering approaches deployment, promoting the extended usage of state‑of‑the‑art MBSE methodologies and monitoring such a deployment within Avionics Architecture System domain, from requirements but also during design and intermediate stages to ultimate V&V process. You will act also strong support to broadcast such a way of working to all other stakeholders you will have to work with.
A System Engineering process, based on ARP4754, is supporting all the daily tasks and requires a certain level of formalization.
Your profile

Engineer in Avionics, or Electronics or Systems Engineering

Experience: 5-10 years or more

Languages: Fluent in French and English
