As the Senior Director of Global Strategic Alignment, you will ensure alignment and coherence across our global operations and strategic initiatives within the Development, Regulatory, and Safety (DRS) Department and report to the ED, Development Strategy and Integration. You will work closely with executive leadership to drive strategic planning, execution, and performance monitoring, ensuring that our activities align with our long-term objectives and contribute to our overall growth and success. You will translate the ALXN Cell Tx platform vision into clear, actionable plans for delivery across the TAs and functions. Working in a cross-matrix team with shifting priorities in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, this includes adapting ways of working for the unique needs of our Cell Therapy programs.

You will be responsible for

  • Lead the development and refinement of global strategic plans, collaborate with key stakeholders globally across functions and regions. Translate corporate Cell Tx vision into actionable strategies, milestones, and initiatives globally.

  • Drive alignment of strategic priorities across functions and geographies to ensure coherence and alignment of resource allocation. Foster collaboration and integration to maximize synergies and minimize redundancies.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Therapeutic Area Heads, DRS leadership, and other key stakeholders within the AZ Cell Tx environment.

  • Drive organizational change initiatives to support the implementation of strategic priorities within the Cell Tx platform.

  • Effectively create and manage change management strategies across DRS to communicate, implement, and manage adoption to ensure successful execution.

  • Exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to routinely predict, identify, generate, and evaluate alternative solutions to barriers in the business to keep the portfolio progressing to plan.

  • Drive fiscal prudence while balancing with operational effectiveness in DRS by pressure testing study budgets, minimizing spend, developing strategies for cost savings while building internal knowledge and expertise in the delivery of clinical trials.

  • Lead cross‑functional & global business excellence initiatives to streamline or develop processes, speed up execution and remove barriers across DRS.

  • Ensure approaches are in full compliance with all legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

  • A degree in a science‑related field or business administration with a proven track record in the pharma, biotech, or CRO industry. Experience with advanced therapies or complex clinical platforms is preferred. (Ph.D., MSc, MBA, BSc.)

  • Experience with cell Tx development or platform management is a plus.

  • A minimum of 10 years of managerial experience in Business Management, Alliance, Business operations, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. Demonstrated experience operating across global, cross‑matrix environments.

  • Experience managing multiple projects with the ability to deliver high‑quality results in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and derive actionable insights.

  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills, with experience leading cross‑functional teams and driving change in a dynamic environment.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Strategic thinker with a results‑oriented mindset and a passion for driving innovation and growth.
