Introduction to the vacant position

The Nanomalaria Group is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the development of the new antiplasmodial compound YAT2150. The contract will be within the framework of one of the research lines of the Nanomalaria Group, whose objective is the characterization of the inhibition of protein aggregation as a novel mode of action of future antimalarial drugs.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Growth inhibition assays in Plasmodium falciparum in vitro cultures.
• Characterization of the subcellular targeting of antiplasmodial compounds.
• Nucleic acid and protein extractions.
• Generation of knock‑out P. falciparum lines.
• Pull‑down assays.

Requirements for candidates

Essential

• Degree / Master / PhD on Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology or related fields.
• Experience in cell cultures, including the culture of parasites such as Plasmodium and Leishmania.
• Competencies and skills: communication, teamwork and collaboration, commitment, proactivity, integrity, critical and analytical thinking.
• High level of English.
• Experience in confocal fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy.
• Experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
• Expertise in drug encapsulation in immunoliposomes.

Advantageous

• Training in public health issues.

Working conditions

Full‑time 2‑year open‑ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
