Role Purpose:

As the Platform Strategy Sub Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for driving the strategy for Roche’s common platforms to support digital medical products and engineering excellence. You will have a key influencer role to help shape and enable the strategic Roche platforms and contribute to the overall Roche Software transformation and capabilities building. Through coaching, mentoring, and creating programs, you’ll be focused on improving the way we develop software across the different software organizations.

You will provide effective leadership for the team in a manner that is consistent with the Roche values and leadership commitments. You will seek to inspire and lead your team to create transformative roadmaps and solutions ensuring that Roche products are recognized as being the best in the industry and maintain our #1 ranking in the future.

You will be responsible:

• Lead a team of program managers and architects. This team will have technical expertise to guide cutting edge technologies and informatics solutions that have cross-functional impact
• Drive engineering team’s performance by providing leadership, guidance and coaching to staff members on core competencies, goal setting, career development, performance management, problem solving and daily operations issues to avoid critical delays that might have far reaching impact
• Deliver programs on time with quality. Guide direct cross-functional software development projects and/or initiatives and manage budget accordingly. Actively manage vendor relationship and consulting services
• Lead the portfolio management, roadmap, and design of the Roche strategic (Cloud / Edge) software platforms that support digital medical products
• Perform strategic planning and tactical implementation of cloud-native solutions. This role will require cross-functional interaction and partnership with key engineering and product partners including ensuring access security, accessibility, interoperability and reusability
• Engage and support internal platform customers across all of Roche teams and help drive fast and consistent adoption of Roche common platforms and toolings and associated custom tool development and development tools management

Who you are:

• BS degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline (CS, Information Systems, Engineering, etc.)

Professional experience/duration: this is a senior role that requires several years of proven experience:

• 10+ years of formal management experience leading a team of engineers.
• At least 5 years of experience in development leadership in public cloud-based software architecture, products and solutions development using AWS
• Experience as a tech lead or architect, leading a technical team and designing large scale software systems.
• Skilled in managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships in a complex organization

Specialist knowledge:

• At least 5 years of experience in development leadership in SaaS based applications, products and solutions using Java, Node.js, etc.
• Expert understanding of cloud technologies, microservices, database design, and evidence of successfully implementing a large scale cloud naive SaaS based solution.
• Track record of successfully proposing and delivering informatics solutions to address complex informatics challenges with broad impact.
• Have successfully defined, built, deployed, and supported an enterprise-scale web application on the cloud.
• Excellent people, leadership, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate a team of junior and senior software engineers. Ability to lead cross-functional project teams and influence in a matrix organization.
• Experience in leadership roles in proposing common technical solutions working with engineering, negotiating with peer groups, lead implementation and adoption in completeness.

Locations

You will be based in Sant Cugat, Spain.

As this position is a global role, international business travel will be required depending upon the business location of the successful candidate and ongoing business project activities.
