A Marine Survey Consultancy in Spain is seeking an Offshore Survey Manager to lead marine survey projects. This role involves vessel mobilization, managing operations, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in geoscience, 10 years of offshore experience, and proficiency in key surveying software. The position offers flexible working options, with both office and remote opportunities.

Job Summary

Our client is a Marine Survey and Environmental Consultancy company with accredited laboratories, specializing in marine environment and offshore projects. The Offshore Survey Manager will lead vessel mobilization, manage day‑to‑day operations of offshore marine survey projects, and ensure safety, quality and efficiency standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, validate and propose geophysical methodologies (equipment, procedures, software) in line with industry best practices.
  • Present cost‑efficient and quality‑optimized geotechnical techniques to meet contract requirements within budget.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise vessel marine operations to guarantee project execution per contractual specifications.
  • Act as Party Chief on board, representing the company during operations.
  • Lead mobilization and demobilization of survey vessels and equipment.
  • Lead and manage the offshore survey team, fostering continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Liaise with client representatives and internal stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing issues.
  • Develop and implement survey plans, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct briefings and debriefings, ensuring clear communication of goals, safety procedures and operational plans.
  • Oversee setup, calibration and operation of survey equipment.
  • Ensure data accuracy and quality through quality control checks and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate data processing and preliminary analysis, offering technical insights.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily, weekly and project completion reports.
  • Onshore, work with Asset & Logistics Manager to maintain equipment readiness.
  • Promote a safety culture and provide training.
  • Report and investigate incidents, accidents or near‑misses, implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of operations, equipment usage and personnel activities.
  • Monitor acquisition progress, identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned.
Candidate Profile
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in geoscience disciplines.
  • 10 years of offshore experience, including Party Chief roles for hydrographic campaigns.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, QGIS, Qinsy, EIVA Navisuite; knowledge of gINT, Kingdom is a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of MBES, SSS, SBP, MAG, and UHRS surveys (acquisition + processing); geotechnical equipment knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt and make decisions in uncertain environments.
  • Strong ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Problem‑solving attitude.
  • Influential skills.
  • Hands‑on; willing to act as Party Chief during peak season.
  • QHSE focused.
  • English mandatory (100 %); Spanish desired; French is a plus.
  • Good work ethic, communication skills and attitude.
