Descripción del empleo
Who we are

Ilkari is a privately-held start-up based in Dublin, Ireland. We deliver hyper-private scale innovation and technology to safeguard and secure data, enabling true data sovereignty even as the pace of change accelerates. Our best-in-breed sovereign technology delivers privacy and control over where companies’ data resides, where it flows, and how it’s accessed.

We’re here to rewrite the story of data sovereignty – empowering innovators, pioneers and visionaries to make their mark. We believe the sky is not the limit. We strive for the perfect balance of simplicity and excellence in everything we do, and we’re looking for people who are ready to join our journey and rewrite the story of data sovereignty.

Role overview

As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a hands‑on role in building and maintaining the networks that power our products, data centres, and customer environments. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers to ensure our infrastructure is secure, scalable, and high‑performing — all while developing your own expertise through real-world impact.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and genders — if you’re curious, proactive, and passionate about technology, we’d love to hear from you.

What you'll do
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain switches, firewalls, routers, and Wi‑Fi equipment.
  • Manage network hardware lifecycle, documentation, and configuration standards.
  • Monitor network health and proactively resolve performance or connectivity issues.
  • Implement and optimise VLANs, routing, ACLs, NAT, and firewall policies (mainly Palo Alto).
  • Implement cloud and on‑prem networking to Ilkari standards.
  • Automate repetitive operations using Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Contribute to upgrades, migrations, and improvements under change control.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver resilient and scalable connectivity.
  • Own specific components/workflows; propose reliability and maintainability improvements.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota and support incident response activities.

  • Hands‑on with Palo Alto (Panorama, GlobalProtect).
  • Familiarity with UniFi or other enterprise Wi‑Fi.
  • Comfortable with racking, structured cabling, and physical installs.
  • Troubleshooting depth: Wireshark/tcpdump, mtr/traceroute, iperf, flow logs; methodical root‑cause analysis.
  • Scripting/automation with Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Familiar with monitoring platforms (e.g., Datadog, PRTG, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK).
Soft Skills
  • Very good problem‑solving skills, open mind towards feedback, and can‑do attitude.
  • Self‑managing, well‑organised, and a clear communicator.
  • Eager to learn, grow, and take ownership of your projects.
