A leading pharmaceutical company is seeking a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) for its Madrid office. The ideal candidate will respond to medical inquiries within 48 hours, maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, and provide training for internal and external stakeholders. Applicants should have a degree in Health Sciences or Biology, over 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry, and high-level English proficiency. Position

Main Functions

  • Medical Information:
    Respond to all medical inquiries within 48 hours (questions about adverse effects, product datasheets, or international case research).
    Search for bibliography, publications, or any published information.
    Provide scientific support in preparing client presentations to ensure compliance.
    Assist in planning and executing scientific activities such as symposia, round tables, medical training, and continuing education programs.
  • Relationship with KOLs:
    Establish and maintain strong scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), researchers, and key healthcare professionals.
    Identify opportunities for scientific collaboration with KOLs and facilitate their participation in clinical studies, publications, and medical events.
    Conduct regular field visits to gather medical insights, unmet needs, and therapeutic trends.
    Collect strategic information about the competitive environment of our products.
  • Training:
    Internal: Training on products, updates on publications or posters presented at recent congresses, mainly for the sales network in the area or as support in plenary meetings.
    External: Training for specialized hospital units, pharmacy units supporting Market Access, and nursing staff (in this case, the medical department managed the entire meeting).
    As an MSL, maintain continuous education by attending national and international meetings and congresses.
  • Support for Sales, Marketing, and Market Access:
    Sales: Provide field support for scientific requirements requested by clients (meetings, inquiries, local or national presentations), and align the annual medical plan with the sales plan.
    Marketing: Review presentations and materials for scientific approval.
    Market Access: Field support for product inclusion in pharmacy units, and even visits to regional health services if necessary.
  • Studies:
    Support the generation of local scientific evidence, including observational studies, registries, and scientific initiatives.
  • Publications:
    Provide scientific support for the development of publications and facilitate contact with editors.

Critical Responsibilities

All described functions are considered critical within the regulatory and ethical framework of the pharmaceutical industry, including pharmacovigilance.
Special attention to handling scientific information, interaction with KOLs, and compliance with internal and external policies.

Profile

  • Degree in Health Sciences or Biology.
  • High level of written English and at least intermediate oral English.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and ethical framework of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous participation in clinical research and publications.
