HR OFFICER (HRBP) SPAIN & PORTUGAL

Location: Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain Reporting to: Head of HR Europe / Regional HR Manager.

Purpose of job

As an HR Officer (HRBP), you'll play a crucial role in supporting our business objectives by providing comprehensive HR support to their teams across Spain and Portugal. This is a hands-on and strategic position where you'll act as a true HR Business Partner, driving HR initiatives and ensuring the effective management of our people. You'll be responsible for a broad range of HR functions, from operational tasks to strategic projects, with a strong focus on payroll, recruitment, talent development, and employee retention.

Key responsibilities
  • HR Business Partnering: Act as the primary HR point of contact for managers and employees in Spain and Portugal, providing guidance and support on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Payroll & Administration: Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for Spain and Portugal, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. Manage HR administration tasks, including contracts, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Recruitment & Selection: Lead the full recruitment lifecycle for all roles within Spain and Portugal, from identifying talent needs to successful onboarding, utilizing various sourcing strategies.
  • Talent Management & Development: Implement and manage training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career progression. Drive talent retention initiatives, fostering a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Performance Management: Support managers in performance review processes, objective setting, and addressing performance-related issues.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations matters, providing advice and mediation where necessary, and ensuring compliance with local labor laws.
  • Project Implementation: Collaborate with the European HQ to implement and localize global HR projects and initiatives across Spain and Portugal.
  • HR Policies & Compliance: Ensure all HR practices and policies are compliant with Spanish and Portuguese labor laws and company standards.
Knowledge, skill and experience required
  • Experience: Proven experience as an HR Officer, HR Generalist, or HR Business Partner, with a strong background in managing payroll and HR operations in Spain and Portugal.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English (C1 / C2 level) is essential for this role, as you'll be liaising with European HQ and diverse teams. Fluency in Spanish and having a Good level of Portuguese will be highly valued.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Spanish labor law, payroll regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Project Management: Experience in implementing HR projects and initiatives, ideally within a multi-country or international environment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Mindset: Proactive, results-oriented, and adaptable, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Education: A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Travel: Regular travel to our various student accommodation sites across Spain and Portugal will be required to support local teams and projects.

  • Competitive Annual Salary : €45,000
  • Performance Bonus : Up to 1 month's salary, based on the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Meal Vouchers : €10 per working day.

  • Holidays : 25 days of annual leave, plus all public holidays.
  • Fixed contract with an initial trial period. The first 6 months are fully presential since we believe training is easy when people are together. After 6 months we work on a 2-3, so 2 days of homeworking and 3 days at the office.
  • We work on a flexible time , being the daily working hours 8 and having the option to come into the office from 7 onwards. It is mandatory for everybody to be connected between 10 and 16 hours regardless the flexibility they chose to get into the office.
  • Timetable : Monday to Friday. Teleworking 2 days a week. Telework 100% during Christmas and Easter holidays.
