🛰️ Indra Space – Leading the Next Generation of Space Systems 🌌

At Indra Space, we are on a mission to redefine the European space industry by delivering high-performance small satellite solutions for LEO missions. Our ambition? To become a leading company in end-to-end satellite systems, driving innovation in:

  • Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT)
  • Secure Communications
  • Earth Observation & ISR
  • Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Traffic Management (STM)
  • Science & space exploration

As the Space Business Unit of Indra Group, we combine cutting-edge technology with a full value chain approach—from satellite design and integration to ground segment and operations. With the integration of Deimos and strategic participation in Hispasat and Hisdesat, we are scaling Europe’s space autonomy and contributing to flagship programs like IRIS², Galileo, EGNOS, and Copernicus.

What will you do?
  • Define and lead the satellite power and data distribution architecture, including interface boards, umbilicals, power distribution units and conversion electronics.
  • Translate mission requirements into power and data distribution concepts, grounding strategies and EMC performance criteria.
  • Lead trade-off analyses between architectures such as point-to-point, backplane or direct connection approaches.
  • Generate and maintain electrical, grounding, EMC, harness requirements, EICDs, and subsystem interface specifications.
  • Develop power budgets, energy balance analysis and end-of-life sizing for different mission scenarios.
  • Ensure compliance with mission reliability, redundancy and derating standards.
  • Coordinate harness procurement and development with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Support AIT activities including functional, thermal vacuum and load test campaigns.
  • Act as technical authority during project reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR).
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, software, V&V and systems teams to define system-level specifications.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Prepare system specifications, design reports, test plans and other technical documentation.
  • Work closely with procurement to provide technical assessment of supplied items.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in avionics, satellite design and space technologies to support innovation.
What are we looking for?
  • A recognized engineering degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in satellite electrical design and development, including flight projects.
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft solar arrays, battery technologies and power electronics.
  • Experience with regulated and unregulated power buses and peak power tracking.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, NASA).
  • Proficiency with system analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink or Altium.
  • Proven experience leading system design across the full lifecycle (concept to launch).
  • Experience in aeronautical/aerospace electrical architecture.
  • Familiarity with AIT campaigns for satellites and/or launchers.
  • Experience with EGSE and satellite test environments in phases C/D.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary engineering domains.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • High-level English (spoken and written).
  • Availability to work in a hybrid model in Madrid.
