As a Controls Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, implementation, and commissioning of automation control systems, primarily using PLCs and industrial PCs (FSC). You will work closely with clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, programming, and commissioning of sortation and automation systems using PLCs and FSC.
Develop and maintain detailed control system documentation, including specifications, functional descriptions, software programs, and system architecture.
Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Lead site commissioning and troubleshoot control issues during the start-up phase.
Interface directly with clients and suppliers to clarify technical specifications and resolve issues.
Conduct training sessions for operational and maintenance staff on system functionality and troubleshooting.
Monitor system performance during production ramp-up and analyze incidents to recommend corrective actions.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in engineering standards and quality assurance practices.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, labor risk prevention, and industrial regulations.
As a successful Controls Project Engineer, you bring a combination of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
Solid understanding of industrial automation and control systems.
Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar).
Knowledge of TCP/IP communications.
Familiarity with SCADA/HMI systems and fieldbus technologies (e.g., Profinet, Profibus, ASi).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for control logic and system debugging.
Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Effective communicator in both Spanish and English (minimum B2 level).
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for system commissioning and customer support. Around 60% of the time.
Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting in field environments is a strong plus.
