A leading global technology firm is seeking a Finance Controller for Southern Europe based in Barcelona or Madrid. This strategic role oversees regional financial operations and compliance, driving consistency and best practices across the portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a technical accounting background, and a minimum of 8–10 years of finance leadership experience in a multinational environment. A proactive approach and proficiency in Oracle NetSuite are essential.

Formación

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in finance leadership roles within a multi-entity or multinational environment.
  • Proven experience managing statutory compliance and leading audit processes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP requirements.

Finance Controller – Southern Europe
Role Overview

The Commercial Controller – Europe is responsible for providing strategic and operational financial leadership across all European entities within the Valsoft Portfolio. This individual will oversee regional financial operations, statutory compliance, and reporting to ensure full alignment with Valsoft corporate requirements and portfolio initiatives. The role is critical in driving consistency, governance, and best practices across the region while supporting M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities. This role can be based in Madrid or Barcelona.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership and Governance
  • Oversee all accounting, reporting, and compliance activities for European entities, ensuring adherence to IFRS, local GAAP and Valsoft standards.
  • Implement robust internal controls across key areas such as revenue recognition, balance sheet management, and cash flow discipline.
  • Drive consistency in accounting policies, reporting practices, and control environments across the portfolio.
  • Partner with Portfolio finance to ensure the timely submission of consolidated reporting and alignment with Valsoft Finance best practices.
Business Partnering and Strategic Support
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the European Managing Directors, providing financial insights and decision support to drive operational performance.
  • Translate financial data into actionable strategies that support growth, efficiency, and profitability objectives.
  • Assist with M&A activities through financial due diligence, integration planning, and implementation to ensure new acquisitions are seamlessly aligned with group policies.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional finance team.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented culture, promoting the adoption of best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Build capability within the team to deliver strong analytical support and commercial acumen across the European entities.
Process Excellence and Systems
  • Drive the rollout and optimization of financial systems (including Oracle NetSuite) across Europe.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency, ensuring scalability as the portfolio grows.
  • Champion data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness in financial reporting.
About You
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) with strong technical accounting background.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in finance leadership roles within a multi-entity or multinational environment.
  • Proven experience managing statutory compliance and leading audit processes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and adaptable — comfortable operating in a decentralized, high-growth, acquisitive environment.
  • Experience with M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite preferred).
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; additional European languages are an asset.
