Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic person to join our Lending Team of Wholesale Banking as Associate of Portfolio Management. This is a lending professional role within the front office.

As a key member of the Portfolio Management team, your responsibility is to actively manage the lending portfolio of Spain & Portugal and optimize returns through strong analytics and capital velocity. You will join a multi-sector and multi-product team (Real Estate Finance, Energy, Infra, Telecommunications, Acquisition Finance), although your role will be mainly focused on project finance transactions in the Energy & Infrastructure sectors. You will collaborate with a wide range of teams -Transaction Management, Capital Markets & Advisory, Risk, Global Credit Restructuring, Legal and more- whilst aligning with back office / support teams. At the same time, the Portfolio Management team plays a key role in further optimizing our processes for regulatory readiness, operational effectiveness and portfolio optimization.

The Portfolio Management team will be the ‘center of excellence’ for the in-life management of ING’s WB lending exposure. It covers all activities post the initial funding to the final repayment of a lending transaction. As a front office department, it will closely collaborate with Origination & Structuring colleagues and product specialists to ensure a seamless client experience. The Portfolio Management function will be organised along product and sector considerations. Each portfolio manager will cover a set of portfolio clients and act as the first point of contact for the ongoing credit monitoring, analytics, internal risk and other reporting. Portfolio Management supports the identification of cross-buy opportunities and is also closely involved in the delivery of ING’s capital velocity targets. The team will be supported by Global Lending Support in Dublin and the ING hub in the Philippines. It will be a key driver of improving processes, standardisation, and digitalisation across Lending.

Your key responsibilities:

• The specific responsibilities of an Associate include actively managing together with the Portfolio Managers all facets of the individual files booked in your dedicated portfolio, including but not limited to:
  • Quarterly and annual credit reviews;
  • Process amendment and waiver requests, credit review process (write or review credit modifications, perform financial analysis, cash flow-based modelling and sensitivity analysis, perform sustainable transaction assessment, submit to risk and address Q&A), follow-up on the required legal amendments to the documentation until execution;
  • Review annual risk rating updates prepared by an administrative support team;
  • Diligent and proactive credit monitoring through the review of all financial covenants and operating performance (e.g. financial models, proforma adjustments, key drivers, etc.) and track compliance of covenants prepared by an administrative support team;
  • Identification and resolution of Early Warning Signals, Unlikely to Pay assessment, Forbearance assessment, Default for a deterioration in credit quality.
• In addition, an Associate will monitor and identify together with the Portfolio Managers market developments and proactively manage their potential impact on your portfolio by:
  • Preparing and maintaining reports as requested by regulators or internal stakeholders;
  • Preparing quarterly Credit Risk Management (“CRM”) portfolio reviews;
  • Maintaining various department and industry databases/ trackers;
  • Maintaining internal portfolio tracking metrics;
  • Responding to ad hoc internal requests on portfolio composition and exposure;
  • Coordinating and working with offshore portfolio support teams;
  • Managing lending limits and Capital Velocity programs.
• An Associate will take active part in the various Virtual Client Teams by:
  • Interfacing with relationship managers and sector specialists to ensure an active dialogue on credit trends, challenges and opportunities for individual clients;
  • Contributing to idea generation for value added cross-buy or client opportunities.
• An Associate is expected to build a culture of operational excellence by:
  • Staying up to date on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal, etc.) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitating accordingly;
  • Contributing to the implementation of strategic initiatives, including enhancements to the credit monitoring process to improve business efficiency;
  • Supporting the implementation of transformation projects;
  • Coaching more junior colleagues (Analysts, trainees and interns) by supporting them in their personal and professional development;
  • Contributing to improve data quality monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications / Education:

• University degree major in business, economics, engineering or other relevant business discipline with above-average academic grades. CFA and/ or MBA are a plus.

Experience / Knowledge:

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in structuring Project Finance deals preferably in the Energy sector in an international environment.

Tu rol y entorno de trabajo:

Estamos buscando a una persona con talento y entusiasmo para unirse a nuestro Lending Team de Wholesale Banking como Associate of Portfolio Management. Este es un rol profesional de lending dentro del front office.

Como miembro clave del equipo de Portfolio Management, tu responsabilidad será gestionar activamente la cartera de lending de España y Portugal y optimizar los retornos mediante strong analytics y capital velocity. Te incorporarás a un equipo multi-sector y multi-product (Real Estate Finance, Energy, Infra, Telecommunications, Acquisition Finance), aunque tu rol estará principalmente enfocado en transacciones de project finance en los sectores de Energy & Infrastructure. Colaborarás con una amplia variedad de equipos —Transaction Management, Capital Markets & Advisory, Risk, Global Credit Restructuring, Legal y más— a la vez que te alinearás con los equipos de back office / soporte. Al mismo tiempo, el equipo de Portfolio Management desempeña un papel clave en la optimización de nuestros procesos para garantizar la preparación regulatoria, la eficacia operativa y la optimización de la cartera.

El equipo de Portfolio Management será el ‘center of excellence’ para la gestión in-life de la exposición de lending de WB de ING. Cubre todas las actividades desde la financiación inicial hasta la amortización final de una transacción de lending. Como departamento de front office, colaborará estrechamente con las personas colegas de Origination & Structuring y con especialistas de producto para asegurar una experiencia fluida a cliente. La función de Portfolio Management estará organizada según consideraciones de producto y sector. Cada portfolio manager cubrirá un conjunto de clientes de cartera y actuará como primer punto de contacto para el seguimiento crediticio continuo, analytics, reporting de riesgo interno y otros reportings. Portfolio Management apoya la identificación de oportunidades de cross-buy y también está estrechamente implicado en la consecución de los objetivos de capital velocity de ING. El equipo recibirá soporte de Global Lending Support en Dublín y del hub de ING en Filipinas. Será un motor clave para mejorar los procesos, la estandarización y la digitalización en Lending.

Tus responsabilidades claves:

• Las responsabilidades específicas de un/a Associate incluyen gestionar activamente junto con los/las Portfolio Managers todas las facetas de los expedientes individuales registrados en tu cartera asignada, incluyendo pero no limitado a:
  • Revisiones crediticias trimestrales y anuales.
  • Gestionar amendment and waiver requests, proceso de revisión crediticia (redacción o revisión de modificaciones crediticias, análisis financiero, modelización basada en cash flow y análisis de sensibilidad, evaluación sostenible de las transacciones, envío a Risk y gestión del Q&A), seguimiento de las enmiendas legales necesarias a la documentación hasta su ejecución.
  • Revisar actualizaciones anuales de risk rating preparadas por un equipo de apoyo administrativo.
  • Seguimiento crediticio diligente y proactivo mediante la revisión de todos los financial covenants y del rendimiento operativo (por ejemplo, financial models, ajustes proforma, key drivers, etc.) y seguimiento del cumplimiento de los covenants preparado por un equipo de apoyo administrativo.
  • Identificación y resolución de Early Warning Signals, evaluación de Unlikely to Pay, evaluación de Forbearance, Default por deterioro de la calidad crediticia.
  • Además, un/a Associate monitorizará e identificará junto con los/las Portfolio Managers los desarrollos de mercado y gestionará proactivamente su posible impacto en tu cartera mediante:
    • Preparación y mantenimiento de informes solicitados por reguladores o partes internas.
    • Preparación de quarterly Credit Risk Management (“CRM”) portfolio reviews.
    • Actualización de bases de datos / trackers del departamento y de la industria.
    • Mantenimiento de métricas internas de seguimiento de cartera.
    • Respuesta a peticiones internas ad hoc sobre composición y exposición de cartera.
    • Coordinación y trabajo con equipos offshore de soporte de cartera.
    • Gestión de lending limits y programas de Capital Velocity.
• Un/a Associate participará activamente en los distintos Virtual Client Teams mediante:
  • Interacción con relationship managers y especialistas sectoriales para asegurar un diálogo activo sobre tendencias crediticias, retos y oportunidades para cada cliente.
  • Contribución a la generación de ideas para oportunidades cross-buy o de valor añadido para cliente.
• Se espera que un/a Associate construya una cultura de excelencia operativa mediante:
  • Mantenerse al día sobre políticas y procedimientos operativos de la organización (p. ej. Risk, Legal, etc.) para asegurar que se implementan y siguen los protocolos adecuados, y facilitar en consecuencia.
  • Contribuir a la implementación de iniciativas estratégicas, incluyendo mejoras en el proceso de credit monitoring para incrementar la del negocio.
  • Dar soporte a la ejecución de proyectos de transformación.
  • Hacer coaching a perfiles más junior (Analysts, trainees e interns) apoyándoles en su desarrollo personal y profesional.
  • Contribuir a la mejora del control de calidad de los datos y del reporting.

Formación / Educación:
