The main objective of this position is to lead an R&D line to deliver sub-components for near-eye displays. You will participate in all phases of product development from planning, through design to manufacturing. Work closely with internal teams and external partners to experimentally develop and test liquid crystal optical elements.
Design liquid crystal optical elements with desired specifications using hands-on experience with commercial and simple custom optical setups (UV / VIS spectroscopy, image quality characterization). Simulate optical performance of liquid crystal optical elements and establish relationships with universities and research centers.
Work closely with the Intellectual Property Team to conceptualize patents. You will also have the opportunity to work on large-scale manufacturing of liquid crystal optical elements and understand the physics of light propagation through refractive and diffractive optics.
This role requires a strong understanding of the relationship between material properties and optical performance of liquid crystal optical elements. Experience working with alignment layers and knowledge of methods of manufacturing of liquid crystal optical elements are valuable extras.
Minimum 7 years of experience in a relevant industry and a Master's degree in a Physical science or Engineering, or alternatively 5+ years of experience in a relevant industry and a PhD degree in Optics, Photonics or Nanomaterials with a focus on liquid crystal optical elements.
