Hello, we are AMBOSS and we are looking for a Senior Product Designer as a 12 months parental leave cover to join our Product Design Team in Berlin.

This is an individual contributor role. Your primary responsibility will be to create smooth onboarding flows and personalized landing experiences for medical students and professionals in different markets. You will be playing a crucial role in enhancing user engagement and ensuring that users have a seamless, personalized journey throughout the product.

Our ultimate goal is to improve patients' lives by empowering doctors to provide the best possible care. As a Senior Product Designer, you will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and medical experts to design and deliver practical solutions. You will work closely with the design and user research team to optimize the product, conduct testing, and validate results.

You should be passionate about UX, information architecture (IA), interaction design, and clear, minimal UI design. Your design skills should also incorporate technical thinking, such as understanding how metadata and web services impact your design. You enjoy experimenting to find the right solutions for complex problems. Additionally, you should understand the product development process strongly, from problem definition to detailed UX/UI prototypes, resulting in shipped products. Experience working on multidisciplinary teams is also preferred.

AMBOSS is a learning and clinical decision support tool striving to empower physicians across the globe to provide the best possible care. Our founders set out in 2011 to create a tool that they would have hoped to have as medical students and doctors. Since then, we have grown to currently operate in 180 countries and have gained immense traction in Germany and the US. Currently, we are pursuing this mission with more than 500+ employees in our offices in Berlin, Cologne, New York, and Cagliari.

• Work in the Home & Onboarding team and closely collaborate with peers in Product, Engineering, Medical and Sales to comprehensively understand user needs around first-time-usage, continuous personalization and support
• Ensure a cohesive and personalized user experience across areas such as global navigation, dashboards and help
• Create prototypes that accurately reflect the design intent. Validate these prototypes with the medical & product team to identify meaningful changes that enhance user satisfaction and drive business growth.
• Advocate for sound design principles, usability, and accessibility to contribute to developing high-quality products on a large scale.
• Collaborate with our in-house user research and data teams to identify and solve key user problems and propose effective solutions.
• Contribute to the wider design community at AMBOSS, including the design system, interaction patterns, and other design-related topics.
• Use research opportunities and insights to build empathy and understanding of our users, who are highly educated medical experts, and advocate for their needs.

• Expert in UX design, information architecture, and visualizing information in a concise manner.
• User-centered design skills - detail-oriented with a deep understanding of design fundamentals with a proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
• Ability to solve complex design challenges while maintaining a simple and user-friendly visual design language.
• A passion for implementing great user experiences, validating and delivering designs that address genuine user needs.
• Ability to go from macro vision to implementation details in an iterative, highly collaborative, and supportive way.
• Bring a “growth mindset” and openness to develop a deep understanding of educational UX for a product targeting medical experts rather than the general population.
• Experience working with research data to inform your designs and participating in user research studies.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams (e.g. product, design, engineering, research) and comfortable with complex stakeholder management.

As a plus, you might also have:

• Understanding of web technologies like React, Storybook and CSS frameworks
• Familiarity with supporting software tools such as JIRA, Notion, Miro
• Have some experience working in health care or education.
• Delving into UX challenges and experimenting to find the best solutions for our users
• Working closely with other disciplines, specifically product management, medical experts, and engineering
• Exploring new ways of working, e.g. with Artificial Intelligence
