Overview

Zahntechniker — Wiesbaden, Germany

Eligibility: OPEN to INTERNAL Local National Employees throughout Germany (U.S. Forces in Germany, including U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe) and LOCAL NATIONAL Applicants who reside in Germany. In case of equal qualifications, priority consideration is given to severely handicapped persons or persons with equal status when identified on the application form; proof of status must be provided when applying.

Responsibilities
  • Fixed Prostheses – Read, interpret, and apply requirements in the dental prescription. Design and fabricate metal substructures for porcelain and acrylic veneers; master techniques in dental ceramics and plastics. Utilize CAD/CAM technology to fabricate metal-free esthetic restorations. Sculpt materials to replicate esthetic, natural tooth conditions. Ensure restoration meets esthetic, functional, and anatomic requirements. Fabricate porcelain veneers for crowns, fixed dental prostheses, implant restorations, and all-ceramic crowns using ceramo-metal techniques. Cast and solder metal components; fit to casts and dies, including semi-precision attachments.
  • Removable Prosthesis – Read and interpret dental prescriptions; design and fabricate semi-fixed or removable partial dentures or complete dentures for cases with malocclusion or retention/mastication challenges. Set teeth according to occlusion rims, prescriptions, and markings. Ensure wax set-up is festooned and polished prior to flasking; manage boiling out, packing, curing, deflasking, and recovery without errors. Remount, equilibrate, finish, and polish dentures. Perform relines and rebases accurately. Adapt wrought wire as indicated. Design and fabricate Flexible Removable Partials and Implant-Retained acrylic dentures. Fabricate acrylic or cast metal splints for fracture reduction/fixation, increased vertical dimension prostheses, and obturators to close palatal openings.
  • Laboratory Procedures – Pour accurate casts from all impression materials (preliminary/final casts, fixed casts with die pins) and articulate on simple, semi-adjustable, and fully adjustable articulators. Use methods and materials for custom trays, templates, mouth guards, splints, altered casts, boxing, and pouring of final denture impressions. Construct record bases and occlusion rims for partial and full dentures. Perform acrylic resin repairs/modifications and all soldering procedures. Maintain records to ensure cases are tracked; provide accurate daily workday worksheets to supervisor. Maintain a clean work area; schedule routine maintenance of equipment; order supplies to prevent shortages. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completed vocational training as Dental Laboratory Technician plus specialized experience (e.g., all steps from final impression to finished restoration/prosthesis).
  • Office automation skills required.
  • Language proficiency: English and German at level B2.
