An esteemed academic institution in Germany is inviting applications for a Full Professorship (W3) in Pandemic Preparedness and Zoonotic Infections. The successful candidate will lead a pioneering research agenda focused on zoonotic infections and play a key role in the educational programs of veterinary medicine. Candidates should have high visibility in research, a strong background in securing funding, and experience in translational research. The role also includes teaching responsibilities in BSc and MSc programs, as well as supervising PhD students.

University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo)
As part of its strategic development of the research focus Infection Medicine and to strengthen the Research Center for Emerging Infections and Zoonoses (RIZ), the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) in Pandemic Preparedness and Zoonotic Infections to be filled at the earliest possible date.
Depending on individual qualifications, the appointment may be made either as a civil servant or an employee under salary W3. Depending on suitability, an initial temporary appointment may also be considered.
The professorship is part of the TiHo’s Center for Infection Medicine and will be located in the RIZ, which features an outstanding research environment, including state‑of‑the‑art biosafety laboratories (BSL‑2 and BSL‑3) and dedicated animal facilities. It brings together interdisciplinary teams from virology, microbiology, immunology, parasitology, biochemistry, food science, and the clinical departments of TiHo.
TiHo is part of a highly visible research network in the Hannover-Braunschweig-Göttingen region. Collaboration at regional, national, and international levels is strongly encouraged and expected.
We seek an internationally recognized researcher with a scientific focus on zoonotic infections, virus evolution, and pandemic preparedness. The successful candidate is expected to develop and sustain an innovative, translational research program, specifically addressing:
The successful candidate will play a significant role in strategic development of the research agenda of the RIZ. The candidate is expected to actively expand interdisciplinary and translational research networks, both nationally and internationally.
In accordance with § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), applicants must fulfill the formal requirements for appointment to a full professorship, including a habilitation or equivalent scientific qualifications. A university degree in veterinary medicine, human medicine or life sciences is required.
