Job Description Summary

The Technical Leader - Mechanical Power Cycle Systems, contributes to the team responsible for the development of mechanical and system engineering activities in support the BWRX-300 project related to the steam and feedwater systems in the balance of plant. The Mechanical Power Cycle Systems Technical Leader will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver New Nuclear Plant Projects.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Leadership of a small group of Engineers and Contractors in activities related to analyses, calculations and technical evaluations required for timely resolution of design and implementation issues.
  • Manage project work schedules and priorities.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership in area of expertise to other engineers and projects.
  • Work within a team environment to execute work plans within budget and schedule.
  • Support mechanical power cycle systems design and/or equipment procurement and construction activities, respond to vendor questions and deviation requests; review and approve vendor document submittals.
  • Support the BWRX-300 certification processes for GE Products to address all US NRC (or other nuclear regulator) design certification requirements.
  • Establish and maintain technical oversight of the applicable regulations (e.g.; US, other national, or global region).
  • Have other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, licensing, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues.
  • Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents.
  • Manage the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a technology or engineering role.

Eligibility Requirements

  • For US, this role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
  • For Canada GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
  • This position will report onsite to the Markham office 2 days a week (Tuesday's and Thursday's).
  • Ability and Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Desired Qualifications

  • Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience.
  • Familiarity with multiple phases of the EPC project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles and mechanical design fundamentals.
  • Strong communication and writing skills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments.
  • Strong facilitation, team building, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of project management.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving and process skills.

#LI-Remote - This is a remote position Application Deadline: For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $111,200.00 and $213,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
