We are looking for a Technical Assistant (m/f/d) with a strong focus on cell culture, laboratory maintenance and technology validation.

Join our headquarters in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) if you are passionate about biotechnology and new instrumentation that bring more automation and efficiency into drug discovery and cell line development workflows to produce therapeutic proteins, gene and cell therapies. The ideal candidate is a team player, who feels comfortable working in a matrix environment. The candidate brings experience not only in laboratory maintenance and mammalian cell culture but is also tech-savvy and willing to perform verification and validation activities in product and feature development. This role will become a power user of our automation technologies. This is a hands-on R&D position with great potential to shape the next generation of tools for life science!

Responsibilities

• Run verification and validation plans of new products, features and software
• Become an expert and power user of our latest technologies and upcoming products
• Verify and validate cell line development and assay protocols on automated platforms
• Maintain, organize and manage the cell and molecular biology laboratories
• Culture basic and advanced cellular models with good laboratory practices to feed the experimental pipeline of the Applications team

Qualifications

• Bachelor / BTA in the field of biotechnology, molecular and cell biology or similar with at least 2 years of laboratory experience.
• Proven experience in aseptic mammalian cell culture techniques.
• Experience in cell culture laboratory maintenance: routine culture passaging, maintenance of instrumentation, consumables stock management and procurement, facility hygiene plan.
• Cell line development: transfection, single cell cloning and upscaling experience is a plus
• Track-record of handling sophisticated laboratory instruments (Fluorescence microscope, Flow cytometer, Liquid handler, laboratory Robots) and associated software is desirable
• Experience in testing, verification and validation procedures of new products and features is a plus
• Getting-Things-Done Mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Confident English communication skills to work in multicultural teams and Business German level to liaise with vendors and maintenance personnel.
