Your role and responsibilities

Your Role: System and Board Design Engineer

We’re hiring development engineers (m/f/x) to join our System and Board Design team starting January 1, 2026. As part of the Electronic Packaging group, you’ll help design high‑performance mainboards and PCB cards for IBM’s flagship platforms.

Key Areas of Work
  • Logic & Physical Design: Develop and layout complex digital and analog circuits.
  • Signal Integrity: Modeling and simulation of high‑frequency signals across boards and systems; definition of design rules and materials.
  • Power Integrity: Ensure stable power distribution and switching stability on complex boards.
  • Module Design: Create single and multi‑chip modules for IBM processors.
  • Automation: Improve workflows, tools, and measurement methods.
  • Failure Analysis: Support hardware bring‑up, prototype validation, and issue resolution.

Required education

Master's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

Your Profile

We’re looking for candidates with a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset. Ideally, you have:

  • A Master’s or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar
  • Knowledge of signal and power integrity, and circuit design (digital & analog)
  • Familiarity with PCB technologies and materials
  • Programming skills (preferably Python)
  • Experience with PCB tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, Altium, Eagle)
  • Strong self‑motivation and team spirit
  • Excellent English communication skills (German is a plus)
