A Bavarian research institute is seeking a part-time student researcher to support the development of benchmarks using native computing units (NPUs). Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and be enrolled in a Master's program. Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, along with background in parallel computing, is required. This role offers flexible working hours and a collaborative research environment.

Native Computing Units (NPUs) from leverage light to enable ultra-fast and energy-efficient computation. By using photons instead of electrons NPUs can significantly accelerate operations like matrixvector multiplications which are at the core of many HPC and AI applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of high-performance computing (HPC) artificial intelligence (AI) and photonic hardware. The student will be part of a research team exploring how NPUs can enhance computational performance helping to develop benchmark and optimize AI and HPC applications for next-generation computing platforms.
