Qualifications

In addition to having a Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as remote sensing, meteorology, physics, IT and/or Computational Science, the candidate shall have experience in the field of physical remote sensing, including involvement in processing of satellite data up to level 2 (L2).

Responsibilities

• Level 2 processing performance assessment
• Level 2 satellite data processing, especially for imager instruments
• Scientific code development and testing (experience with programming languages e.g. Python and/or Java; Jupyter notebook)
• Satellite product validation and quality monitoring
• Corrective and evolutive maintenance of product monitoring chains
• Agile development and configuration control, version management and testing (Gitlab, CI/CD)
• Fluency in command-line use on Linux/Unix platforms
• Quality control of satellite data and products
• Operational Satellite Data visualization
• Statistical quality monitoring

Desirable / Good to have

• Working in a real-time operational environment
• Working knowledge of Java
• Familiarity with specialized frameworks such as Pytroll and Satpy
• Familiarity with Data formats NetCDF and/or BUFR
• Ability to work effectively in teams and communicate clearly
• Fluency in English is mandatory; this is the working language at EUMETSAT, and the Contractors must be able to work effectively in this language both in written and spoken form
