Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer with JS and Python - (f/m/x)

Within AUTO1, our dedicated research and development team is at the forefront of innovation, building the next generation of technology for the used car market. We develop and deploy proprietary devices that automatically inspect used cars for exterior damage, bringing unprecedented transparency and efficiency to the industry.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer. You will be a force multiplier, building and owning the critical software tools that power our robotic systems and support our engineering teams every day. Your work will directly impact the speed, reliability, and quality of our robotics development lifecycle—from system design and testing through real-world deployment and monitoring.

This is a hands‑on, full-stack role for an engineer who enjoys building applications and is comfortable working across the entire technology stack, from backend services to modern web frontends. You will be responsible for making key architectural decisions and working closely with the team to build tools that are not just functional but a pleasure to use.

Develop, maintain, and improve the full-stack applications that support our data pipelines and model analysis workflows.

Contribute to the maintenance and feature development of the core Python application running on our production inspection devices.

Drive the technical architecture for our tooling ecosystem, making decisions on frameworks, databases, and application design to ensure our systems are scalable and maintainable.

Work directly with end-users to gather requirements, solicit feedback, and create intuitive, efficient user experiences.

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on Python.

Proven experience in full-stack web development, with a solid understanding of both backend and frontend principles.

Expertise in building backend services with Python and web frameworks, specifically Flask.

Proficiency in a Linux environment. You should be comfortable and efficient using the shell and command-line interfaces for daily work.

Excellent communication skills and a user-centric mindset, with experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical solutions.

Willingness to embrace new ideas and feedback, work collaboratively with others, and continuously seek improvement.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with building desktop GUI applications
• Direct experience with Svelte.
• Experience with relational databases and ORMs.
• Desktop: Python, PyQt
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and containerization (Docker).
• Prior experience working within a Machine Learning, Data Science, or Computer Vision team.
