This role combines strong creative execution with technical understanding and cross-functional collaboration to ensure that design intent is carried through every phase of the project - from initial ideation to production readiness. The role includes contributing independently to multiple high-profile projects and actively supporting the team with design leadership in selected areas.

About us:

At Kia Design, we're not just a team – we're a community of visionary thinkers, creative doers, and passionate designers who thrive on pushing the boundaries of innovation.

If you revel in the art of envisioning the future and have a keen eye for aesthetics that resonate with the times to come, then you belong with us. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where you can unleash your imagination, experiment fearlessly, and craft designs that not only stand the test of time but set new standards.

Your Responsibilities:

Interior Design Development

  • Create compelling and innovative interior design proposals in both 2D and 3D.
  • Translate conceptual ideas into feasible interior solutions with a strong understanding of proportion, surface quality, and design detail.
  • Ensure that interior design proposals align with Kia’s identity, feasibility standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with modelling teams (clay and digital) to iterate and refine surfaces and forms across project phases.

Project Collaboration

  • Handle multiple design tasks independently, ensuring timely delivery of assets across design phases.
  • Participate in project reviews, presentations, and milestone check-ins with cross-functional and global teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering, visualization, and product planning to maintain design intent from concept to production.
  • Contribute to innovation and advanced design studies supporting Kia’s long-term strategic vision.

Studio & Team Contribution

  • Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior team members, interns, or contractors.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, workshops, and studio-wide creative initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and experimental design culture within the team and across departments.
Key Qualifications:
  • University Degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, Visual Design, or a related field
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in automotive or mobility design
  • Proven track record of involvement in full vehicle programs, ideally with global exposure
  • Prior experience working with interior development and cross-functional stakeholders
  • High-level creative ability in both hand-drawn and digital sketching.
  • Proficiency in design software including Alias, Blender, Photoshop, and VRED.
  • Deep understanding of vehicle architecture, engineering feasibility, and production constraints.
  • Ability to manage 2-3 concurrent design tasks or projects efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and visual storytelling skills in English; Korean is a plus.
  • Proactive, independent, and collaborative working style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work in multicultural and cross-functional environments.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and participate in training assignments in Korea.
