SAF – IS Chapter Program Director, Mobile

Apply for the SAF – IS Chapter Program Director, Mobile role at American Red Cross. The position supports the Service to Armed Forces and International Services Division mission in Ramstein, Germany, and requires moving to military bases worldwide.

Overview

American Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian network. As a mobile staff member you will lead delivery of services to military installations, hospitals, and their families, working under strict medical and security clearances. Deployment is a condition of employment: typically 6 months in the field every 18‑24 months, possibly worldwide.

Scope & Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and support to field personnel, ensuring consistent delivery of SAF programs, Training Services, Disaster Cycle Services, and Armed Forces Blood Services.
  • Supervise a team, including hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and evaluating performance.
  • Build and maintain external relationships with community leaders, military branch leaders, government and civic organizations.
  • Manage a volunteer program, developing recruitment plans and maintaining diversity of the volunteer workforce.
  • Ensure efficient service delivery, follow‑up, and referrals; report outcomes and recommend improvements.
  • Control expenditures to keep programs within budget.
Staffing & Deployment

The role is mobile; you must be a U.S. citizen, obtain a secret clearance and a no‑fee U.S. passport. Worldwide mobility is a core function; assignments can be in any location, including conflict zones. Medical and physical requirements include military‑approved immunizations and readiness for harsh environments.

Qualifications

Physical & Other Requirements

Must regularly sit, use hands, talk, hear, and occasionally stand, walk, kneel, or crawl. Must often lift up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds. Vision and noise tolerance as described.
