Research Associate – EG 13 TV‑H, Fixed‑Term Part‑Time

Position: 20 hours per week, part‑time with the aim to increase working hours to 75 %. Opens immediately; hire date as soon as possible. Application deadline 04 01 2026. Vacancy number: 38949.

Project

Working within the Institute of Physics – Molecular Quantum Physics with Synchrotron Radiation under Prof. Dr. Marcel Mudrich on the project “Evolution of chiroptics under controlled conditions of nano‑solvation and aggregation in superfluid helium nanodroplets,” part of the DFG Collaborative Research Center ELCH.

Responsibilities
  • Scientific collaboration in the project.
  • Experimental investigations of chiral molecules and nanoparticles using synchrotron radiation and measurement of photoelectron circular dichroism.
  • Active participation in measurement campaigns at SOLEIL (Paris), MAX‑IV (Lund), ASTRID2 (Aarhus) and ELI Beamlines (Prague).
  • Data analysis, interpretation, modeling, and writing scientific publications.
  • Maintenance and development of group infrastructure.
  • External presentation of the group and Physics Department and communication of our research to the public.
Requirements
  • Completed university degree in physics, chemistry or nanoscience (must be in place at start date).
  • Completed doctorate in physics, chemistry or nanoscience for habilitation.
  • High level of organizational and teamwork skills.
Desired Skills
  • Good knowledge of synchrotron science and atomic and molecular physics.
  • Experience with synchrotron beamtime, vacuum apparatuses, ion and electron spectrometers, data analysis.
  • Good programming skills, particularly in Python.
