A fusion energy company in Germany is seeking a knowledgeable Plasma Physicist. You will develop models and workflows for plasma performance, interacting closely with engineering teams to support the design of innovative fusion power plants. Ideal candidates will have a postgraduate degree in physics, solid programming skills in Python, C++, and Fortran, and a passion for sustainable energy solutions.
At Proxima Fusion, we're driven by a bold mission - to redefine the future of sustainable energy. Our unique concept, built upon the groundbreaking W7-X stellarator and the latest advances in technology, paves the way for commercially viable fusion power plants.
Our work in stellarator optimization, powered by cutting-edge computation and machine learning, is propelling us into uncharted territories of fusion technology. New higher performance design points are unlocked by high temperature superconducting magnets.
We're on a journey to redefine the energy landscape, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
A magnetically confined plasma lies at the core of Proxima's ambitions to design and construct a first-of-a-kind fusion power plant. The stellarator's magnetic geometry and plasma control systems must be well-tailored in order to obtain and optimize the necessary fusion-relevant conditions. The physics underpinning this endeavour is profoundly complex, demanding deep theoretical insight into nonlinear systems and detailed computational analysis.
As a plasma physicist at Proxima, you will play a central role in developing and applying models that characterise the behaviour of fusion plasmas. Your work will span from fundamental physics to practical application-interpreting the latest experimental research from leading plasma facilities, and incorporating these insights into the engineering behind next-generation stellarators.
You'll collaborate closely with engineers and industry partners to ensure that plasma dynamics is fully integrated in our design process, shaping the future of fusion energy.
At Proxima Fusion, our mission is bold: making limitless clean energy a reality. To get there, we need a high-performing, diverse team that brings different perspectives, challenges assumptions, and builds together with purpose. We know that diversity of thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team. We don\'t look at how you identify, what you look like, who you choose to worship or what ethnicity you are. We care about what you can bring to the table.
