The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in our fantastic HR Team as Payroll Team Lead supporting the preparation of an accurate and timely payroll of approximately 2000 across the regions. They will be responsible for supporting the payroll team in providing professional and responsive payroll service within each country and provide legislative guidance to employees and the business for their specific jurisdictions.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Payroll Specialists, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring expertise across all DACH payroll jurisdictions.
Manage team workloads, set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and identify training and development opportunities.
Act as the first escalation point for complex payroll queries, issues, and system discrepancies from team members and employees.
Drive accountability for meeting all internal and external deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs).
Oversee and be accountable for the end-to-end processing of monthly payrolls for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure strict compliance with all relevant DACH-specific statutory requirements, including wage tax, social security, labor law, collective bargaining agreements (where applicable), and local regulations (e.g., Swiss cantonal variations).
Manage and reconcile all payroll-related reporting and submissions to local authorities (e.g., tax offices, social security institutions).
Ensure all payroll documentation and records comply with local audit and GDPR requirements.
Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with HR Operations, HR Business Partners, Finance, and Legal teams across the DACH region and globally.
Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience in a fast paced environment in payroll and benefits administration.
Organised with strong time management & decision making skills
Maintains an up to date knowledge of all payroll legislation.
High level of attention to detail with good analytical and numeracy skills.
Experienced with DATEV (ideally LODAS), Salesforce, Workday (beneficial), ADP products or similar
Fluent in German (C1 / C2) to effectively manage communication with local authorities, employees, and internal stakeholders in the DACH region. Fluent in English (written and verbal) for international communication and reporting.
