The Business Development Team of HELM Pharmaceuticals GmbH is looking for a new Patent Manager (m/f/d).

Responsibilities

• You will support our patent team with patent searches and evaluations through the lifecycle of generic pharmaceuticals, from project ideas to development until launch, ensuring timely updates and project-specific assessments.
• You will act as a first point of contact for both internal and external requests regarding intellectual property (IP) matters.
• Moreover, you actively participate in project teams and coordinate the collaboration with external law firms and experts.
• Providing preliminary assessments for new ideas as well as defining the patent strategy are also part of your role.
• In addition, you will also be responsible for keeping our internal IP databases updated.
• Furthermore, managing invention disclosures, including communication with inventors, and oversee the patent application process from drafting to maintenance as well as managing patent portfolios are also within the scope of this role.

After a period of onboarding and training, you will then independently…

• Conduct freedom to operate analyses, assessing validity of patents or utility models, infringement, and enforceability, along with prior art searches for patentability.
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for ongoing and planned projects and products.
• Handle all aspects of IP disputes, collaborating with external attorneys and supporting patent attorneys/counsels.
• Support various internal departments, including training new colleagues, incorporating IP aspects into contracts, and assisting with logistics and due diligence processes.
