A prestigious university in Germany seeks a Full Professor (W3) in Hematology and Oncology in Pediatrics. The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a position at the University Children’s Hospital as a Full Professor (W3) in Hematology and Oncology in Pediatrics, available immediately.
The position will be filled on a salaried basis, unless the appointed person is already a civil servant in Germany with “Beamten” status.
The professorship is linked with the directorship of the Department of Pediatrics I with Polyclinic at the University Children’s Hospital of the Tübingen University Hospital. The department covers the focus areas hematology and oncology as well as gastroenterology, rheumatology and nephrology in pediatrics.
The successful candidate is expected to represent the discipline of hematology and oncology in pediatrics, working closely with the other representatives of the University Children’s Hospital in research, teaching and patient care, and to be responsible clinically, scientifically and economically for the above-mentioned areas of the Department of Pediatrics Department I.
The successful candidate’s nationally and internationally visible scientific profile has a focus on basic scientific research and offers points of contact to the research focus areas of the Faculty of Medicine Tübingen, in particular in the areas of molecular individualized tumor therapies and cellular immunotherapy, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Experience in translational research and clinical management is a requirement.
Participation in research initiatives of the Faculty of Medicine such as the Cluster of Excellence “Image-Guided and Functionally Instructed Tumor Therapies” (iFIT), the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK), the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Tübingen-Stuttgart and the National Center for Tumor Diseases SouthWest (NCT-SW) are desired.
Clinically, the successful candidate should cover the full spectrum of hematology and oncology in Pediatrics and represent pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric rheumatology and pediatric nephrology. In‑depth experience in bone marrow transplantation and the development and implementation of gene and CAR T cell therapies is desirable.
In the area of teaching, extensive and excellently evaluated teaching experience and commitment are expected, especially with regard to innovative curricula of the study programs of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as active participation in the design of lectures and other teaching formats using evidence-based, effective teaching methods. The teaching obligation is 9 hours per week during the semester.
Prerequisites for employment are a board certification in pediatrics with a focus on hematology and oncology as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
