A leading university in Berlin invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on neuronal flexibility under the ERC-funded project SynProtect. The successful candidate will conduct molecular analyses and apply advanced microscopy techniques, particularly in Drosophila genetics, to study synaptic plasticity. Candidates must hold a PhD in Molecular Neuroscience or a related field and demonstrate proven expertise in Drosophila neurogenetics along with a solid background in protein biochemistry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic research environment.
The Sigrist Lab at the Institute of Biology, Freie Universität Berlin, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position within the ERC-funded project SynProtect. The project investigates how neurons maintain both flexibility and stability - how synapses adapt to experience and stress while preserving precise communication under conditions such as sleep deprivation or aging.
Our research focuses on molecular and biophysical mechanisms of presynaptic plasticity, in particular how the Rab‑GTPase regulator Blobby and aPKC/Par‑1 kinase signaling jointly control the organization and remodeling of the active zone (AZ) via phase separation and endomembrane interactions. By combining molecular, imaging, and behavioral approaches, we aim to link synaptic remodeling with sleep and resilience at the organismal level.
We offer a stimulating and international research environment, access to state‑of‑the‑art microscopy, proteomics, and behavioral platforms, and integration into the vibrant Berlin neuroscience community.
