  • Analyze experimental data using reactive mass transport modeling to quantify biogeochemical cycling under changing conditions.
  • Collaborate with molecular biologists in Giessen, co-developing experiments and linking molecular biological markers to process-based models.
  • Develop one-dimensional models with detailed reaction networks and upscale to aquifer-scale scenarios.
  • Aim to develop gene-explicit models that predict how drought and micropollutant loads affect natural attenuation processes in groundwater.

Requirements

  • Completed master’s degree or equivalent in geoscience, environmental engineering, or an equivalent discipline (degree must be available by the recruitment date).
  • Very good knowledge of English.

Advantageous qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, and environmental physics.
  • Experience in both numerical modelling and experimental work.
