Role overview

We’re looking for a Digital Audio Signal Processing Engineer to own and drive the continued development of our core audio simulation and augmentation systems that underpin our machine learning stack.

This system generates training and evaluation data that closely approximates real production audio by starting from clean audio and applying simulation, DSP, and ML-based transformations. It enables realistic training and fine-grained testing of audio AI systems under adverse conditions.

You’ll work in a small, focused team of audio, machine learning, and data engineers, collaborating closely to build and evolve the core systems behind our audio AI products. The role is on-site in Berlin.

Tasks

• Own the design and long-term evolution of a core audio simulation and data generation system, with the goal of narrowing the gap between simulated and real-world production audio.
• Model realistic audio signal chains, spanning acoustic environments, capture conditions, and downstream processing as they occur in real products and voice-agent systems.
• Translate real customer and production audio into simulation assumptions, identifying what matters perceptually and statistically — and what does not.
• Develop efficient DSP implementations that work in real-time and streaming use cases as well as in large-scale offline data augmentation.
• Build and maintain tooling and abstractions that make complex audio simulations configurable and reproducible.

Requirements

• You are an audio & DSP expert: Deep expertise in digital audio signal processing and acoustics, with a strong mathematical foundation and proven experience designing and implementing realistic audio simulations and transformations. You can reason about real-world signal chains, system behavior, approximations, and trade-offs.
• You are a strong systems engineer: Experience turning research or prototype implementations into robust, high-performance production code, with strong proficiency in Python for rapid development and tooling, and the ability to write highly efficient low-level code in at least one of Rust, C, or C++.
• You have a startup mindset: You’re comfortable with ambiguity, take ownership, and make pragmatic engineering decisions, with prior experience in a start-up or highly dynamic, product-driven environment.
• Nice to have: A solid understanding of modern machine learning development workflows and how data and evaluation choices influence ML system behavior.
