Job Description

Since 1996, RQ Construction, LLC. has been a leading player in Southern California's robust commercial and governmental Design-Build economy. We have a national presence spanning coast to coast, including U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. We manage projects throughout the United States, with field operations' team members working on location for each project. We specialize in fast-track projects in new commercial construction, primarily focusing on the Department of Defense market.

We are seeking a skilled Combination Pipe Welder to join our Mechanical team for ongoing work at King's Bay Naval Base, GA. All work is performed on the military base and is paid the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage specific to the Naval Station Norfolk military base.

Responsibilities include: using hand-welding, flame cutting, hand soldering, or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components. The role requires passing groove-weld qualification tests in all positions for multiple materials and processes, using both Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). All work is conducted on active construction sites, adhering to relevant codes and safety practices, applying mechanical welding principles with appropriate equipment, supporting RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Pay: $45.15 - $50.00 per hour

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Union, private, military, or trade school apprenticeship program preferred.
• 5 to 8 years (or equivalent) of field or trade work experience as a Combination Welder in commercial, industrial, or facilities operations, including government, military, or large commercial construction.
• Must pass 6G GTAW & SMAW tests prior to employment.
• CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour Certifications required; training in the following areas can be provided:
• Trenching and shoring
• Fall protection
• Confined space
• Forklift/Manlift
• Power actuated tools
• Lockout/Tagout
• Scissor lift/boom lift
• EM-385
