An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chief Accountant / Hauptbuchhalter to join our client, a top 10 pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Cuxhaven, Germany. Founded in 1968, our client are a well established and highly successful organization, specialising in the manufacturing of cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and central nervous system products.
The ideal applicant will have a degree in economics or business administration (or similar) and have several years of accounting experience along with a strong knowledge local German accounting standards, HGB and IFRS.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage accounting activities
- Perform documentary and financial control of accounting documentation
- Record business events in the information system and close reporting period in the information system
- Calculations of travel expenses and other refunds for the employees
- Account material and cash management
- Post fixed assets and calculate the depreciation
- Organise and coordinate tasks within the company with the aim of ensuring correct and accurate financial statements
- Implementation of internal accounting controls
- Participate in external and internal audit, tax and possible other reviews and control
- Participate in internal projects
- Ensure the archiving of documentation in accordance with local regulations
Required Experience:
- Education: economics, business administration or taxes and university degree
- Several years of experiences in a similar position
- Excellent knowledge of Accounting and German Commercial Code ‘HGB’ and ‘IFRS’
- Experiences with Stakeholder Management, Communication and reporting to Headquarter, preparing different kind of reports, analyses and financial statements
- Confident handling with SAP
- Personality with a strategic and business-oriented mindset
- Analytical thinking skills and structured approach
- Business fluent in German and English
