Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an estimator in sheet metal.
- Proven track record in preparing accurate bids and proposals.

Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate tender prices based on drawings and specifications.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and enter data into the estimating system.
- Assemble and submit bid forms and proposals.
- Calculate final estimated costs including overheads.
- Provide detailed labor breakdowns for project management.
- Assist in developing estimating strategies.
- Participate in site visits and bid meetings.
Skills
An established sheet metal contractor based in the Brampton area is currently looking to add an experienced Estimator.
This new construction, renovation and service contractor has a strong focus on the commercial, Industrial, and Institutional sectors in Southern Ontario. From custom ductwork manufacturing, replacements, and retrofits, this team is capable of in-house design fabrication of sheet metal and ducting. This group is extremely supportive and organized. You will not only be supported by the technology required but also the organization.
The role of Sheet Metal Estimator is to prepare accurate tender prices from the available information such as drawings and specifications. Tenders include lump sum, guaranteed maximum price format or unit rate pricing. The estimator will be responsible for preparing, recording and maintaining pricing, ensuring accuracy of the take off, and assisting the management team in the ongoing pursuit and acquisition of new work. Experience working with sheet metal, including within the field considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Sheet Metal estimating as it related to HVAC
- Experience with practical and successful experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects.
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.
- Performing quantity takeoffs including entry into the computer estimating system.
- Reviewing all bid documents to ensure all bid requirements are met.
- Assemble all elements of an estimate including a lead sheet to summarize all the elements.
- Preparing bid forms and submissions for a tender call or proposal.
- Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads a profit.
- Provides detailed labor breakdowns for each area to assist with budget creation and management of project.
- Applies technical experience to interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings.
- Assists in the development of estimating plans to establish estimate/proposal strategies.
- Attends and participates in site-visits, pre-bid meeting and post-bid meeting as required.
