OWWCO OIT Exam

We also encourage all applicants to obtain a passing minimum grade on the Ontario Water Wastewater Certification Office (OWWCO) OIT Exam. The OIT certification is a requirement for working in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection.

The Opportunity

Under the technical direction of the Lead Operator and general supervision of the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, repair & replacement of storm water collection, water distribution and wastewater collections subsystems.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent as per the Ministry of the Environment certification guidelines
  • Must possess a valid passing grade on the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Operator in Training (OIT) exam (as indicated above)
  • Must possess a class DZ driver’s license
  • Must be able to understand water distribution and wastewater collection maps and construction drawings
  • Must have mechanical aptitude
  • Must be capable of reporting (written or verbal) on WD/WWC systems conditions or problems
  • Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
  • Must have strong analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
