Reporting to the Manager of Morningstar Centre, the Prevention Support Worker provides support throughout clients' recovery journey, including admission, care, and discharge. The role involves assisting through stages of change, supporting effective care transition, discharge planning, and facility functioning via group work and cross-program collaboration.

• Diploma in addictions or social services required; lesser qualifications may be accepted if CAMH coursework is completed or undertaken
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• WHMIS training
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training
• Support and assist course for medication completion upon hiring
• Basic counselling and screening skills
• Ability to observe, record, and maintain cooperative relationships with service providers
• Skills in resource referral, advocacy, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and critical thinking
• Experience working with vulnerable populations and understanding of recovery, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, homelessness, and stages of change
• Effective communication skills, tact, and sensitivity
• Flexible working hours and ability to manage administrative tasks
• Non-judgmental approach and awareness of community resources
• Knowledge of Ojibway language and culture is an asset
• Ability to work in a peer supervision model, maintain confidentiality, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and EMR
• Class G driver’s license with clean record
• Reliable attendance record
• Experience in mental health and addictions field, harm reduction, abstinence environments is an asset
