At Loblaw Companies Limited, we succeed through collaboration and commitment and set a high bar for ourselves and those around us. Whether you are just starting your career, re-entering the workforce, or looking for a new job, this is where you belong.

Join us at Loblaw Companies Limited as an Associate Merchant in our Hard Discount Division supporting the No Frills and Maxi banners to deliver great products and customer programs to over 475 grocery retail stores across Canada. Reporting to the Category Director and working closely with the Merchants, you will be part of a diverse and dynamic team that are data-driven and customer centric with a passion for food! If you’re excited by the opportunity to work for one of Canada’s leading retailers, apply today!

What You'll Do:
  • Work collaboratively with various business units including Merchandising, Operations, Finance, Control Brands, Supply Chain, loyalty, e-commerce, marketing, media, and other divisions to build and execute customer centric merchandising programs that drive profitable sales growth.
  • Act as a key support partner to your Merchants in the execution of promotional programs, including promotional data-entry, pricing and item setup accuracy, flyer/digital/in-store advertising accuracy, vendor income collection, inventory management, store communications, and end-to-end data integrity.
  • Use data and analytics to turn information into actionable insights. Prepare timely category performance reporting, highlight trends and exceptions, and provide tactical recommendations that help drive improved category performance across KPIs.
  • Support your Merchant(s) and/or Category Director in Product Assortment and Seasonal planning, including data-entry, SKU rationalization, planogram preparation, product setup, and ad-hoc reporting with strong attention to detail.
  • Support the Category Director in the managing the financial activity of the category and collaborate with the Merchants, vendor(s) and finance team to investigate and resolve income inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy. Recommend practical enhancements that reduce errors, increase efficiency, and strengthen ways of working within the category team.
  • Demonstrate an ownership mindset in your day-to-day work and show learning agility, curiosity, and growth potential.
What You'll Need:
  • A curious, entrepreneurial, and self-starter mindset with a strong desire to learn, grow, and positively impact the business.
  • Experience in Retail, Sales, Merchandising or knowledge of retail, financial or business processes preferred.
  • Ability to influence without authority and collaborate productively with many diverse teams.
  • Adept analytical skills with proficiency in Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP); comfort working with datasets, validating data, and spotting anomalies.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent track record of delivering accurate work and maintaining high data-integrity standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate data and insights into clear, concise summaries and recommendations.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and elevate opportunities that benefit the category, Merchants, and broader business.
