Winter Highway Maintenance Worker

Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM) is the Ministry of Transportation and Transit’s road and bridge maintenance contractor for Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley), Service Area 20 (Robson) and Service Area 26 (Skeena).

Emil Anderson Maintenance | Skeena is seeking applications for winter highway maintenance workers/labourers. Area 26 Fraser Valley includes Terrace, Kitimat and Gitlaxt’aamiks. This is a seasonal, full-time position consisting of manual labour and operating plow trucks. Multiple positions available.

Responsibilities
  • Operate in accordance to and uphold Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all aspects of your work.
  • Uphold an unwavering commitment to developing a zero-injury culture
  • Removal of snow and ice by safely using snow removal and/or sanding equipment
  • Completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Changing snowplow blades
  • Patching potholes and jackhammering
  • Doing maintenance and minor service works on vehicles
  • Digging out plugged drains, maintaining shrubbery, and picking up litter
  • Any other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Working safely is a condition of employment
  • Minimum class 3 with air brake endorsement
  • Previous snow plowing and heavy equipment experience is an asset
  • Willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 an asset
  • OT work required in the event of a snowstorm
  • Clean drivers abstract and valid Canadian driver's license required
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
  • Acknowledge this position can be labour intensive
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions

Qualified applicants are required to provide current ICBC “N” drivers abstract along with their resume.
