Job summary

A municipal government is seeking motivated team players to join the Water Services facility in Guelph. Successful candidates will perform maintenance and landscaping duties, monitor inventory levels, and ensure cleanliness. A valid G or G2 Driver’s licence and the ability to work in various weather conditions are essential, alongside a commitment to customer service. Position Overview

The City of Guelph is looking for hardworking, motivated team players looking to work at our Water Services facility to help maintain the grounds and facility. If you like working as part of a team, enjoy a variety of duties and like getting a little dirty, this is the opportunity for you! The anticapted employment dates will be April 2026 to August 2026.

These positions will assist the Water Services Maintenance and Water Distribution team in the upkeep of the Water Services facilities and associated infrastructure.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Performing minor facility maintenance and painting
  • Performing grounds keeping and landscaping duties
  • Entering maintenance tasks into the database system
  • Ensuring inventory levels are monitored and maintained
  • Performing basic janitorial duties as required
  • Various Water Distribution system infrastructure maintenance duties
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and requirements
  • Valid G or G2 Driver’s licence and a minimum of 2 years driving experience
  • Ability to work with various small tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform physical work and in all types of weather
  • Comply with all applicable regulations and requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as all Federal, Provincial, and City of Guelph regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work with or without supervision
  • Strong focus on quality customer service
  • Demonstration of community mindset through volunteering, community outreach and other initiatives is an asset
  • Experience in landscaping, construction, farming or other related experience is an asset
Hours of work

Any five consecutive shifts of 8 hours; Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Pay/Salary
  • $19.15 per hour for first work term (February 2026 rate)
  • $20.18 per hour for second work term (February 2026 rate)
