Job description

Our client, a leading food company, is looking to bring on board a hands on, continuous improvement-oriented VP of Operations for their facility in the GTA. This is a multi site management opportunity with travels up to 25%.

In this exciting position, you will take a lead role in a fast paced, fresh processing company. This is a great opportunity to be a key stakeholder in a growing company that invests in its employees.

What we are looking for you to do:
  • Ensure compliance with Health & safety, quality and manufacturing regulations
  • Overall management and co-ordination of operations and functions within the facilities
  • Work with the Executive Team in the development of the corporate strategy
  • Ensure facilities meet or exceed KPIs for safety, order accuracy, OT utilization, fill rates, and shrink control
  • Ensure that production meets and exceeds standards for food safety, cost, quality, productivity, and customer service
  • Develop an Operations strategy that aligns with and directly supports the corporate strategy
  • Oversee the hiring, development and management of senior operations employees and ensure a highly qualified, trained, and motivated team is in place
  • Coordinate manufacturing and supply activities within multiple departments to improve production and plant process
  • Implement best practices in production, automation, and material handling.
  • Drive process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives across various locations.
  • Ensure buildings and equipment are maintained in appearance and operation, and are in compliance with targeted standards
  • Ensure management systems have been created and are complied with for recipes and processes, SOPs, 3rd party certifications and QA programs
  • Partner with Sales and Supply Chain to ensure operational readiness for new business, new markets, and acquisitions
  • Understand the plant systems and equipment capacities and make recommendations for improved efficiency and potential expansion
  • Assist in the development of operational and capital budgets, policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and implement lean principles across all aspects of manufacturing and supply chain
  • Continually coach, direct and train employees utilizing lean principles
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 8+ years of experience as a Director of Operations (titled) required
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership in fresh food manufacturing with direct multi-site responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
  • Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM (CI certification) required
  • Clean driving abstract/ reliable vehicle required
  • Ability to travel up to 25% required
